ice music
Isungset“s ice-music can be described as atmospheric music. You can hear the deep-set silence of the ice. you get the feeling that some of the sounds have been frozen in time and are only now being set free, calling from deep within the earth. The key is to go with the flow; this is music to be with, to be sorrounded by, immersing your self in its beautiful and chilling melodies and rythms.

The concept of ice music emerged from the idea of forming instruments out of pure, frozen water, drawn from pristine lakes. All the instruments are carved from ice.
Terje Isungset has pioneered the creation of this fragile instruments, which gives concert audience a unique visual and musical experience: outside in natural sorroundings, with the moon as the only spotlight.
“The sound of ice is unique”, says Isungset. “ It is warm and beautiful. WOrking with unexploid material is a tremendous challenge. Ice gives us new timbres, new forms of resonance, and new experiences. My goal is to explore the intrinsic music of ice and to share its beauty with others.”
